The show is conceived as a story narrated by an actor about newcomers immigrating to Canada; the spoken words are intercalated by the performance of repertoire music and new pieces composed for our group. In its whole, the performance recalls the origin of the quartet members and celebrates the place that has welcomed them 10 years ago.

Written for the passing of my dear friend Mark Taylor (1978 – 2017), this work wrestles with the loss of a loved one and trying to hold on to what of their presence still remains.

Inspired by the quartet’s stories of immigration and misunderstanding the lyrics of the Canadian national anthem, this piece plays around with the theme of the anthem in a curious and cold way.

As part of the Evolution: Quartet Concert series the Vaughan String Quartet premiered the new work “Curious and Cold” at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
