Edmonton based composer, David Dykstra, is a creative and collaborative composer for both choral and instrumental chamber music. Initially specialized in solo piano and choral works, David has become increasingly versatile writing for other ensembles like the Vaughan String Quartet and the Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton. David is passionate about looking at how various aspects of life are reimagined through a musical context. He has composed choral works, solo piano pieces, piano and violin duets, string quartets, string orchestral works, and a full orchestral work. His works have been performed in Canada and internationally throughout Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia.

Recently commissioned by the Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton, The River City Chamber Orchestra, and the Vaughan String Quartet, David seeks to work together with directors and ensembles to co-create works that the musicians can enjoy performing.
